For simple 'proofing' (before I email them off to ofoto for enlargements) and infrequent photos to give family and friends, I'm finally going to get an Epson (only) inkjet printer. I've had the Epson USB laser b&W and it's been flawless.
So. The C80 at $99 before rebate seems to get good marks.
A friend insists I get an Epson 'Color' model which is in the under $200 range.
Your thoughts are GREATLY appreciated....
Thanks.

Epson 760 colour - lower end
My experience with this printer was awefull. It's worked. Thats the only good thing about it. It's still good for b/w. But colour printing is a pain in the a$$.
sorry about being so negative - hopefully someone else had better luck

I got my wife a 1280 to make prints for an exhibition she has coming up, and she loves it. The output is very nice, especially on the matte paper. The software works well in either 9.2.1 or OS X.

I have an Epson Photo 870, which does a great job at photo work! I've had people tell me they can't see the difference between an actual photo and a re print from this printer. This printer is no longer available, however, the Photo 820 was recently released and is under $200. It is also a six color printer, which is what you want if you're doing photographic work! I've shot about 40 rolls of 35mm in the last year of nature pics, so my Epson gets a work out, and it's been flawless!

I have an old Stylus Color800 on my 8500 at work. Bought it the day they came out and it's been a great printer.
I've seen a lot of trouble with a couple of 740's.
Just got a 1280 last week and I'm very impressed with the quality; both machine and output are top-notch.

I got a Photo 750 (six inks), great colours, crispy b/w, reliable, three years of frequent use now without problems (expensive the ink, of course).

I have the Stylus Photo 870 also, 6-color photo printer. Best printer I've ever used. Photo output is top notch. Text is nice and sharp and pretty fast for an ink jet. If the new 820 is anything like the 870, that's the printer to get.
