Just got a 2 TB hard disk to store my "Movies", I plugged it in and started copying stuff over.

I just realised that it is formatted in FAT 32, I don't see the problem but the manual suggests that HFS+ would offer better performance. Is this true? If yes, in what way?

Im only playing video, not booting or serving anything too stressful, should I spend 6 hours copying everything back - reformatting and copying everything back over, or should I just leave it??

I'd say it depends on whether or not you need cross-platform accessibility for that drive. HFS+ pretty much limits you to only being able to access the drive with a Mac (which may not be a bad thing ). If you think you'll ever need to access the drive with any other operating system, I'd leave it as FAT32.

MacDrive can access HFS+ drives from Windows. FUSE with NTFS-3G can access NTFS drives on MacOS X (though not particularly quickly). Only stick to FAT32 if efficiency and speed are not an issue, and if you know you won't have files over 4GB.
