The Agfa ePhoto 1680 digital camera comes with a few cords that lets you connect to a serial port.
I have an iMac DVSE.
Is there an alternative cord available that goes from camera to USB, or is a serial adaptor from Keyspan necessary?

Agfa have yet to respond to my query filed 5 days ago.

advice to fellow Agfa camera owners appreciated.

i have an ephoto 1680. aside from a usb-serial adapter, i don't know of any usb cords specifically for the 1680.

i use a smartmedia card reader. these are inexpensive devices (less than $100) that plug into the usb port. i prefer them. they are faster than serial port transfer and you conserve your camera's battery power.

another alternative, if you have a powerbook, is to use a smartmedia-pcmcia card adpater. these are also less than $100 and let you plug the memorycards directly into the computer.

Many thanks for your reply and helpful suggestions.
Is there any software necessary for using these Smartmedia card readers or do they just act like an external HDD ?
Also, am I correct in thinking that these USB media adaptors work cross platform? (I know thats the idea behind USB, but just want to make sure..)

I am really asking these questions on behalf of someone else (who actually owns the camera) so hadn't even thought to think about the removable card they have inside. (Slap forehead)
