Just got a JVC digital video camera, which has the ability to shoot stills as well, saving them to a MultiMediaCard.

It comes with a PC serial interface cable, which of course is useless to a G4. Should you source a serial converter, the Mac software only looks in modem/printer ports, so that option appears out.

The camera will only send video over the firewire cable; no luck transferring stills through firewire.

Anyone know of a decent MultiMediaCard reader or other thingy that would let me grabs the pics off my Mac?

Have a Sandisk Imagemate that reads compactflash cards, is that of any use to the MultiMediaCard? (am traveling away from the G4, or would check myself ;-)

Thanks for any thoughts ... cheers, db

Addendum by db: Took the camera back, got a Canon Optura Pi. Much better camera. The JVC mike picked up major motor hum; the Optura Pi doesn't. The MMC card stills were shoddy on the JVC too.

Check this out: http://www.digitalorigin.com/products/photodv.html

It's a plug-in for PhotoShop. I use it to grab stills from my Cannon Elura via FireWire. Works great! They include PhotoShop LE in
case you don't have it
