My visioneer strobe pro (usb) will only scan in color photo mode. I can't change the scan setting - greyscale, dpi, etc. Any ideas ?

I have a G4, System 9.0

"I can't change the scan settings..."
What do you mean?
Why are you running OS 9.0 and not 9.04?

I didn't think 9.04 would makes any difference.

I'm having this exact same problem now in Classic on OS X (works fine with the same System Folder when booted in 9).

No matter what settings (dpi, color mode) I select, I always get a color scan, which takes up lots of space.

Anyone know how to fix this, or if Visioneer will support OS X at some point?

Wouldn't you know it. I was screwing around with reinstalling the software, deleting the prefs, etc., and got to the point where it wouldn't even let me select the resolution. More accurate, I guess. I gave up.

A couple days later, I tried to scan something in OS X again, just in case, and it worked! Showed the resolutions, let me scan in black and white, everything.

MadMacs, I certainly agree with you on the poor drivers and support, but I know of nothing else similar to the Strobe. I don't have room for a flatbed scanner (I'd just pile stuff on top of it), and I don't know of any other software that does document management like Paperport.

Anyone? I could probably compromise with a flatbed, but I'd need it to be fast at medium resolution black and white scans, and have good integration with some document management software.
