I'm trying to install a Samsung ML-4600 USB software on my pismo PowerBook running OS 9.1. The printer is connected and clearly visible in Apple System Profiler. The only file that is installed by the samsung installer is the chooser extension into the extensions folder. The printer icon shows up in the chooser but when selected, says:

"The printer driver could not be loaded. Quit other applications and try again. If that fails, use the installer to reinstall the printing software."

A desktop printer icon was created, but trying to use it results in the same error message. Reboot and/or reinstall is ineffective. Are other there extensions required which I might be missing? Any ideas would be appreciated.
