I was flipping through the channels tonight, and I caught a skit on Saturday Night Live. In the skit, a company "computer guy" was troubleshooting an iMac user who was trying to get his speakers to work. The user had an iPod and was apparently also having problems getting his songs transfered over Firewire to the iMac.

It was very cool to see the iPod being marketed so openly like this. One of the lines even sounded like a commercial... "hey doesn't that iPod store like over 1,000 songs?" I was digging it bigtime!

Obviously some of the SNL writers are big Mac fans.

Is this really positive marketing? If they really liked the Mac, would it really be demonstrative of their viewpoint if they had a Mac that needed troubleshooting on the show?

I didn't see it, but I'm kind of confused.

No, it wasn't really the Mac's "fault" in the skit...the user was just being dumb. His speakers weren't working because he had his headphones still plugged into the iMac.
