Hi,

I have an external Iomega 100 SCSI Zip Drive that I used to use with my old 2300c Duo in College. Before I sold the 2300c I made sure to copy all the data, including the system folder etc to several 100MB Zip Disks.

I was wondering if there is any direct way to connect this SCSI Zip drive to my iBook 600? Does anyone know of a SCSI to USB or SCSI to Firewire Connector that will do this for me? I want to get all the old Zip Data off of the Zip Disks and onto my iPod etc.

Thank you in advance for your help.

There are SCSI-USB adapters out there, but they cost as much as a USB Zip 100. The other problem is compatibility. USB and SCSI connections both supply power, but in a different way. Zip drives don't like it. Most adapters say Zips will work when daisy chained to a SCSI device that is compatible with the adapter. If the Zip is your only SCSI device, then your choices are to get a USB Zip or connect it to a SCSI machine and access the files via filesharing.

I have an Orange Converter FW to SCSI. It works fine with most SCSI devices. I used a Zip 100 on it and it worked fine. BUT same as what was said above. Its about $100 for the adapter, i have a few SCSI devices so it was worth it to me. But since you just want a zip attached its just as well you buy a new Zip drive.

Anyway, take a look just in case: http://www.orangemicro.com/oconverter.html

In order to avoid the potential hassle of trying to get an adaptor to work, and for the cost involved, you're better off buying a new Zip drive!
