Well, the iPod is definitely getting out into users hands now, and we all have heard how easily scratched and fingerprinted they get. Some fault Apple for not including a carrying case/pouch and belt clip. Not to worry, though, as more manufacturers are planning iPod cases to pick up where Apple left off.

I'm sure most iPod owners by now have heard about the leather sleeve that JR Hill is coming out with:
http://www.jrhillandcompany.com/ca10.asp http://www.jrhillandcompany.com/ipodgallery.html

This will apparently be available sometime soon after Thanksgiving and will be available first to people who have signed up for their email notice list. I hear the price is to be somewhere around $35.

As for looks, I think the JR Hill product leaves A LOT to be desired.

I have heard rumors about a Brenthaven bag for the iPod but cannot confirm from Brenthaven customer service reps. In fact the person I spoke to said that the idea had been scrapped totally.

The newest news and the most exciting to me is the coming introduction of an iPod sleeve from the folks at Waterfield Designs in San Francisco. Although there are not yet any photos, their web page can be found at: www.sfbags.com

I have confirmed with them over the phone that two versions will hopefully become available the first week of December. One will be a miniature version of their laptop sleevecase, maybe the vertical one. The other version will have a cutout opening for the thumbwheel as well as a flap that velcros over when the thumbwheel is not in use.

Both versions will have all the distinctiveness of Waterfield Designs' entire line of bags. Why am I so excited??? Because I own and use their G4 Sleevecase as well as a Large Cargo Bag. Unless you have one in your hands, you cannot begin to appreciate the quality of these bags. And the customer service is second to none....excellent care from Rom and Gary. I will buy this iPod case sight unseen anyday over JR Hill's offering. Keep your eyes peeled for this one!

dvd -
dunno about your 'Pod, but mine rareley even gets warm, much less hot.
Up here, I worry more about it getting too cold.
The deluxe looks pretty good, better than trying to get it to fit in a cell phone case or something.
Hmmm maybe I shouldn't jump too quick. The stuff from Waterfield does look good too. Guess I wait a few weeks.
Thanks for the info.

no offense, but they are not a great product designing company, everything looks terrible. How on earth they put a black sleeve on a ipod?. I just think clear plastic or anything white, light gray or even light purple will get the job done.
