I have a Power Computing Power Wave and I have three 64 MB memory chips installed.
All has been well for the past six months, when one morning I turned on the computer to discover only one chip was showing up. It seems very strange to me that two chips would go bad at the same moment in time, yes possible but not likely.
I have tried moving the chips around to different slots but still only one chip shows up as installed.
When I try to start up with one of the two bad chips I hear a strange kind of electrical hissing noise just before the chime. I previously had two internal hard drives on this machine for two years until one day I heard this same hissing noise at startup, which went away when I removed the second hard drive, so I guess this could mean both chips are bad.
Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions about this problem.
Thanks for any help,
mitch
