Anyone have any experience with making the purchase decision between the AP-U70 and RP-U100 Yamaha USB-enabled digital audio systems? I know the RP-U100 is 30 watts per channel opposed to the AP-U70's 20 watts/channel. Also the AP boasts "24-bit/96 kHz sound", while the RP has "24-bit/48 kHz sound". Finally, the RP has an AM/FM receiver; the AP doesn't, but does have remote control. Both devices are the same price.
Anybody have a favorite between these two digitals amps? Or any buying advice?
Unless anyone can make an incredible case for it, I'm avoiding the RP-U200, the top-end model with 5.1 speaker outputs. We're cramped enough on space as it is and I don't want to be stringing 5 speakers all over my limited work/living area. From the performance specs (12 watts per channel), it seems like one of the 2-speaker models (the AP-U70 or the RP-U100) will perform better with only 2 speakers attached.
And lastly, does anyone know how well the virtual surround sound technology works at a listening distance of 7-10 feet?
