Hello. I am in the market for a new Firewire HD, somewhere in the area of 75GB-100GB for use on a digital editing workstation. It would preferably be external, so that I could use it both on a Powerbook and on the G4.

Any favorites out there? I'm looking for speed and reliability; case size is not much of an issue.

Thanks!

Anything with the new Oxford 911 chip is fine. OWC and Trans Intl. both sell nice HDs for a good price. They generally use IBM or Toshiba drives, but that varies.

I have one of the smaller, portable drives from Trans Intl.

I'm quite happy with my Maxtor FireWire HD. I use it for digital video, and it's up to the job.
Benchmarking it says it'll do 22.4 MB sustained read and 12.4 MB sustained write.
Also, Maxtor ships with software that lets you configure your drives in a RAID configuration I believe.
