I am trying to find out the compatability of Zip disks between Macs and Windows systems. I've heard that either Mac disks work on PC's or vice versa.
I am wondering because I am looking into getting a Zip Drive for my Mac, so I can work on school stuff at home. We are using Windows systems at school.
I didn't know their was a compatibility issue until a little while ago.
Can someone please explain this to me?
Thanks,
-Natron

Actually PC disks work on a Mac no problem but not so easy the other way around. Just format your Zip disks in PC format and you will be fine.

Here is my situation:
I work on PC's for school, and a Mac at home. I will be storing my school stuff on Zip Disks, but I want to work on them at home on my Mac. I would then want to save them and still use them at school.
Does this pose any kind of a problem?

Ditto what Han's Hands on Leia and Hörnchen said. When formatting the disks, it will be for DOS 100MB or something like that. Also when you buy Zip disks, they're usually pre-formatted for either PC or Mac. Probably shouldn't matter which kind you buy, but I've found that only the pre-formatted Mac disks can be formatted for either platform.

Not true, if you use iomega tools to format you can make Mac or PC disks. It makes no difference what you buy.
