Some years ago (in 1990, I believe) there were a series of articles about VLF and ELF radiation from electronic devices. Computer monitors were mentioned as being hazardous, especially w/re to the radiation that came off the back of a monitor. Now we have LCDs, and CRT monitors are shielded. Which kind of monitor is safer to have? And what about LCD TVs? There are so many new technologies, like digital TV, and plasma TV. I know I'm mixing TVs with computer monitors, like apples and oranges, but the question was put to me by a friend, and I have found very few articles on this subject that are not more than 10 years old. In fact, the only ones I did find were published by companies that make monitor shields, and I don't trust info that is part of a company's press release.

I would appreciate info here from people with real technical knowlege, and links to publications on the subject, if possible.

CRT still emit their rays, but those are shielded. That's what are saying the manufacturers, laws and costumer organisations. There allways is something left, but no health relevant problems now.
But if you believe in earth rays, if you believe in finding water with Y-formed wooden sticks or you cannot sleep because your bed is not parallel to the earth axis and if you lift your HiFi speaker cables on little feet to improve sound; then have a TFT, they don't emit anything but light. (Well, all electronics inside is a little radio station, but we all don't go back to the caves)
