I am currently running ...

• 2 - 256 PC100
• 1 - 128 PC100
• 1 - 32 PC100

On a G4 500MHZ
I am looking into getting a new 256 PC133... and my question is :
Is the PC133 usable with the PC100? Are there any known conflicts that I should look out for?
Thanks for the help....

My understanding is that PC133 RAM is backwards compatible with PC100. It will work fine, but your system won't be able to take advantage of the faster speed of the PC133.

I've also heard it recommended that anyone buying RAM today for a system that uses PC100, should by the PC133 RAM so that if/when they upgrade their system, they'll have a better chance of being able to use that RAM with the new system because PC133 is becoming the standard.

PC133 works fine with PC100. My computer came with PC100 but I upgraded with PC133 because the best deals were for PC133.
The 4 o'clock train will be a bus.
It will depart at 20 minutes to 5.

Also, just FYI, Cas3 (3-2-2) PC133 RAM will run clocked as Cas2 (2-2-2) PC100 RAM when downclocked from 133MHz to 100MHz...

CAS latency is the initial response time for your memory chips. 2-2-2 is faster than 3-2-2. This is different than the bus rating of PC100 or PC133 which is generally related to overall throughput.

Because PC133 chips need to be generally faster in an absolute nanosecond sense for the same CAS rating than PC100 chips, the lower PC133 3-2-2 rating is time-wise equivalent to a PC100 2-2-2. Hopefully that wasn't too oversimplified.
