even though it is for my PC, i'm still trying to get some fellers out there to see which i should do...

i need more HDD space, but i would like to add some performance so i am looking at RAID 0 Striping, as i don't need the backup of Raid5... i got another machine that all the important stuff sits on in RAID 1

Currently i have 1 WD 7200 20gig drive, 9.5ms Seek 2mb buffer

i am looking to add 2 more drives but nt sure between these sets to get:

the WD 20gig:
Formatted Capacity: 20GB
Interface: 40-pin EIDE
Data Transfer Rates: 100MB/s (UDMA)
Average Seek Times: 9ms
Buffer Size: 2MB
Rotational Speed: 7200rpm
78$

the WD 30gig:
Formatted Capacity: 30GB
Interface: 40-pin EIDE
Data Transfer Rates: 100MB/s (UDMA)
Average Seek Times: 9ms
Buffer Size: 2MB
Rotational Speed: 7200rpm
90$

Seagate Barricuda
Formatted Capacity: 20GB
Interface:40-pin EIDE
Data Transfer Rates: 100MB/s
Average Seek Times: 8.9ms
Buffer Size: 2MB
Rotational Speed: 7200rpm
75$

tmepted by the barricudas and their higher performance and lower costs, and the fact that i could throw them i with my exsisting drive for 3 HDD's in RAID 0...

but i could grab the two 30's and leave them in the RADI array by themselves (else they become expensive 20gig drives)

recommendations?

Hi Nimisys. OWC carries a nice IBM drive that costs about 180 bucks. Its a 61.49 gb drive that'll give you more capacity for your money. 8.5ms seek with 2mb of cache.

I've got a 20 gig of the portable variety and am very happy with it. Very quiet and very fast.
