Hey all,

Anybody else having problems sharing an Epson USB printer with Epson's own software?

When I attempt to print from a client machine (not hooked directly to the printer), my first print job usually goes through fine, but the second or third always crashes the print server machine. Jobs sent from the server itself go without a hitch.

I don't see anything at Epson's site on this. Printer is a Stylus Photo 780 and I'm using the latest versions of their various drivers.

Any ideas?

I don't know about Epson's, but have you tried Apple's USB print sharing software? You can get it at:

That might do the trick if Epson's doesn't work. I've been thinking about running it with my Stylus Photo 870 but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Yeah, I've tried Apple's software. It only shares over TCP/IP and that won't work for me since my print server machine is also a software router running IPNetRouter. (On the other hand, Epson's printer sharing is perfect for me since it uses AppleTalk.)

Thanks for the suggestion and link though!
