The time has come for me to buy a new monitor, and I thought for sure the LaCie electron19blue III was going to be the one for me. I went out to my local computer store (they call themselves THE Computer Store!) and I wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be. It was just kinda fuzzy, which, granted, was probably due to the fact that it was a floor model. However, I decided to wander on over to the cinema display to take my standard drool session. While I was over there, I also noticed how nice the 17" display was.

I had previously not been interested in LCDs because of one thing, primarily. I knew that the lack of color uniformity across the screen would drive me nuts, and I had previously confirmed that when looking at the 15" studio display. However, I noticed that there was almost no variation across the screen when I set the background to Azul Dark, a uniform background. I took a look at the 15" dispaly at another store (the store I was at didn't have one) and it did have the uniformity problems that have bugged me.

Am I crazy? Or is there a good reason the 17" seemed more uniform than the 15" by a wide margin? Are they different screen technologies? Please share any thoughts you have that could shed light on this perponderance! Thanks!

Well, I just received my 17inch a couple of days ago, but I can vouch for it being a beautiful display. I can't vouch for its uniformity however, and I assume that you would be some graphics artist, because I don't really care about uniformity, although I can't sa that I notice any problems. However, I bet you would see things tha I wouldn't, but I love this display, and would highly recommend it, if not for graphics work!
