I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a good external CF-RW to use with my new dual USB iBook. Also, are most external CD-RW's iTunes compatable.

Another question: someone mentioned on the iBook forum that there also exists an external CD-RW/DVD combo drive for about $300. Does anyone know who makes it and where I could purchase one?

Thanks

What kinda price range/speed you after?

Speed? Yamaha CRW2100 FireWire. 16*10*40.
Price? Yamaha CRW8824 FireWire. 8*8*24.

Both are EXCELLENT drives. Yamaha are the best things out there. You won't regret it.

http://www.apple.com/itunes/compatibility/ is the official list, though other unlisted drives may work, too.

Good question Skaught!

I was wondering the same thing, but also which external CD-RW drives are durable (being that they'll be kept/transported with a portable computer)?

The Yamaha CDRW drives are pretty rugged -- mine came with a strong metal casing. Of course this means they'll be heavy, but that's part of the tradeoff...

Does anyone have any comments about using EZ Quest Boa Pro-Mar 16x10x40 CD-RW Firewire external drive with a Power Mac G4 350Mhz (AGP graphics) if so, is it any good? I found a price of $299 from MacWarehouse, any better prices?
Thanks!!
