Hi!

I have a G4 500 DP, 768 MB, 40GB, ATI Rage pro 128, LaCie electron blue II 19".

I'm planning to get a 75 GB IBM Deskstar HD for video work (FCP and AE). I also want a 3rd drive to run Virtual PC (I want a separate, small HD for Windows instead of a partition on the startup drive). My questions: is it possible to add this 3 rd drive on the ATAPI bus on my G4? (I don't have a Zip drive). Or do I have to buy an ATA PCI card? If so, will it be better to put the IBM drive with this controller card (i.e. faster data transfer for video editing). I'm a little confused.

Also, will it be a good move if I change the Rage pro card for a Radeon AGP? I ask this because I don't do 3D work and I'm not a gamer.

Many, many thanks in advance.

HTH

Put the bigger faster drives on the main ATA bus.

Don't bother with the Radeon - the Rage Pro is fine for games, and great for anything less. You don't need it
