I have a brand new Apple 17" LCD screen hooked to a Dual 800. Today I noticed that the image of my RC5 client window is apparently "burned" into the screen. Think back to when video games would damage projection TV's by "burning" a repeated image into the screen. This is very annoying. Is it possible that the image is truly burned into the screen? Any ways to correct this problem? I hope that I haven't ruined this screen in the first 2 weeks that I've had it.
Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

Unfortunately, I've seen this too on a 17" display in a computer store. You might call Apple tech support; maybe they can replace it for you, especially if there are no cautionary notices in the manual.

Let us know how it turns out!

Read the info on Apple help pages. Any screen burn in on an LCD is not permanent. Turn the computer off for 24 hours and the image should fade away 100%. They also say that it can take the same amount of time to fade as it did to create it.

Well, I am happy to report that the burned image has faded entirely. Now I'm using the Energy Saver control panel to sleep the monitor after 15 minutes of idle time. I don't want to sleep the entire machine since RC5 won't run when the hard drive spins down. I'm just glad I didn't damage any of my new hardware.
