Dear anyone.

I have a problem burning CD's using Toast and LaCie Firewire.

My problem is.............
When I drag the Icon(s) of single CD track(s) from various CDs to Toast, it switches to its "Toast Greatest Hits" mode. The resulting songs are faithfully reproduced, but with a nasty - but very short - blast of data AFTER the end of the LAST song (when the play session is ending).

When I copy an entire CD (drag the CD icon onto Toast), it is burnt as DAO (Disk-at-once) WITHOUT that nasty - but very short - blast of data AFTER the end of the LAST song (when the play session is ending).

My compositions are as WAV and AIFF file sources. When I drag these files to Toast, the resulting songs are faithfully reproduced, but again with that nasty - but very short - blast of data AFTER the end of the LAST song (when the play session is ending).

Does it APPEAR that I've narrowed things down to a "Track-at-once" or a "Greatest Hits" problem, or is it a problem with run-out sectors, or is the write laser beam, or am I way off-course?

According to the Glossary of Terms in my Toast Manual, the Section on "Run-Out Sectors" states:
Run-out sectors are created because the write laser beam cannot be turned off immediately upon termination of data recording. Consequently, 2 sectors are allocated to be “wasted” as the laser shuts down.

I apologise for the repetition of "the resulting songs are faithfully reproduced, but with that nasty - but very short - blast of data AFTER the end of the LAST song (when the play session is ending)", but so far that is the best way I can describe the problem.

I have no idea what to do, and the problem persists to this day.

My setup comprises:

Adaptec Toast™ 4 Deluxe for Macintosh (now updated to V4.1.2) .

Macintosh PowerPC G4/400 with Mac OS 9.0.4

LaCie Firewire CD-R/RW (8X/4X) drive (Matshita CD-RW CW-7586 Firewire)
These are the drivers installed in the Extensions Folder in my G4:

FireWire Enabler v2.5 (Mac OS CPU Software Z-2.3)
FireWire Support v2.5 (Mac OS CPU Software Z-2.3)
FireWire LaCie Driver™ v6.3.1
Toast FireWire Support v1.0.5 (El Gato Software)
Toast CD Reader v4.1.2 Adaptec, Inc.

I have updated the firmware of the Firewire Firmware for the Bridge card to v1.23

I have also turned off Energy Saver in case it clashes.

Is there ANYONE who is able to help me with this one???

Regards,
Jim Robson.
