Maybe this is BS, but isn't there some issue with Seagate drives and not running at full speed with the Mac Pro SATA bus? I searched about this here and there's some conflicting info.
Yes there is an issue with some Seagates but I've read mixed reports about a firmware update fixing it. I didn't trust what I read so I did 2 of the Maxtor MaxLine Pro 500mb drives in my MacPro. I considered the Samsung HDs but I couldn't find any RAID 0 benchmarks and that was important to me. The Samsung has better reviews then the Maxtors I have and they're working great for me so go for it.
