Wish one do you guys recommend? I'm looking for the best looking pictures for less than $300. I know this two are the best choices, they are both 2.1 MP and $299, the difference is that one has SmartMedia and the other is Compact Flash... And obviously, I want OS X support (iPhoto).
I'm in a dilemma here, can you guys help me decide?

Personally, I've tried both & ended up going with the PowerShot A40 in the end.
Only one problem though.. (a rather annoying one though)
At the moment, there currently is no support whatsoever for the Canon PowerShot A40 from either Canon or Apple under OS X..
I'd wait & see what the next few weeks of development brings, as this is still a relatively new model. I'd expect Apple to add support to iPhoto as it has for almost every other Canon digital camera released.

Apple is not selling food to hungry people. They are marketing materialism to some really materialistic people. If you're gonna be materialistic, quit whining about how expensive life is..

One workaround though & one that would probably keep you occupied until support is added, is to pick up one of the many cheap compactflash card readers & use it to access your the media cards for you digital camera.

I have the A40, just got it on the weekend, and somebody in another forum here told me how to get it to work in OS X. If you can't find the message thread, let me know and I'll tell you how. You just need to add a couple of lines to a text file. It's simple and then the camera will show up in iPhoto.
I did not try the Olympus camera, I just chose the Canon based on specs and reviews of the A20. But so far, the A40 has been a joy to use. I wanted good quality, simple to use, and relatively small. The A40 has a simple interface and it works great with iPhoto. I've only take 30 photos so far and they look great.
