and is there any difference between the black and the white version in cord length ?

do they also work on an ordinary windows pc with usb ?

I think the new white Pro Mouse has a larger cord than original (black) Pro mouse. Maybe focused to a better use with the iBook´s only left ports, if you need the mouse at your right, of course.

On a pc?, I am pessimistic... an ordinary windows pc don´t deserves that beautiful thing ;-)

Yes, your Apple keyboard and mouse will work on a pc, although windows with only one button is very very different than a mac with one button.

But, don't you think the mouse might try to kill itself if hooked to a beige box? "Suicide by scurrying off the desk", would be a terrible fate.

Anyway, the cord is about half a meter in length and able to safely support the mouse if accidently knocked over the edge (repeatedly.) And, as it seems thinner than other mouse cords I've used, it's more flexible in a tight desk space.

Cheers!
