I have a DVD-RAM cartridge that seems to have a corrupt driver or something. When I insert it into the drive the computer freezes. I tried holding down cmd-option to see if it was just the desktop file but the icon doesn't even appear before the computer freezes.
If I startup my computer with the Norton Utilities CD, run Disk Doctor, and insert the cartridge then I can go to "Show Missing Disks" and it will show up in the list with the correct name (PM Backup) so I know there's data still on it (important data, of course - this was an archive not a backup). However, Norton shows the disk as read-only so it won't repair it.
I tried DiskWarrior with the trick of quitting the finder before inserting the DVD-RAM cartridge but the disk never shows up in diskwarrior.
I have DVD-RAM TuneUp and it will find the disk alright but it shows up as "Untitled-1" instead of "PM Backup" which Norton correctly identified. So, I should be able to reformat it but all I really need to do is repair it somehow! FixDVD also does not show the drive in the list.
Does anyone have any advice?
