i'm looking to add another gb to my macbook pro. i dont want to go with apple's 200 dollar one, where can i get one fairly cheap but decent quality?

sorry, but yeah OWC, those are like 50 dollars at the other link posted (macsales.com)
can these be trusted? that seems real cheap compared to apple's 200 dollar ones

Does your MBP have one 2GB module or two 1GB modules? If it's the latter, you're going to need to buy a 2GB module since you only have 2 slots.
Apple's memory is way overpriced (about 3-4x retail on the MBP). I'll second the recommendation for Crucial.

Yes, you can do it, and it's trivial. ifixit.com even has a guide to walk you through the process.

i'm reading on the Crucial site that its better for performance to get a one 2gb module rather than adding an extra 1gb to the already existing 1gb ?
is this true?

I bought 2GB of Corsair RAM for my MBP through Newegg. It came out to about $100 FOR BOTH STICKS. At the time there was also a rebate going, so I'll get $40 back on the deal. Cool?
I think you're misinterpreting what Crucial is saying, or they're saying it wrong. The logic board likes matched pairs rather than mixed pairs (2 separate 1GB sticks is better than a 1GB and a 512MB stick for more than just the extra RAM), but I don't see how a 2GB stick could be that much better than two 1GB sticks-except that Crucial would make more money on the deal.
