I'm surprised that there's no thread about this yet. When I try to update my Apple TV it says: "Can't dowload the update at this time. Try again later". Anybody else seen this? It's not my connection because I can watch the movie trailers fine.......

Thanks...

I'm not sure why you can't download the update. Worked fine for me about 7:30 pm EST last night. It's cool being able to watch YouTube videos. They download pretty fast and almost start playing immediately. Picture quality is so-so. About what I expected. You can sign into your own YouTube account if you have things bookmarked, etc. Overall, a nice little update.

I didn't get round to updating yesterday.
Is the picture quality any better than ripped YouTube videos sent to the AppleTV? They say that the videos have been converted to h.264. Did any quality come with said conversion or was it just to make it easy to stream to the AppleTV and the iPhone?

Is Dr. Tran available on YouTube on AppleTV?

Quality is similar to (maybe a little inferior to) broadcast TV in my opinion. Not spectacular, but not bad either. Definitely watchable.

I updated mine last night and then spent the next few hours, with my wife, watching videos off YouTube.
I never browse YouTube on my Mac, but sitting around and having it on the AppleTV is pretty cool. I've ripped a few videos from YouTube to my Mac and then synced them to the AppleTV. The quality seems better watching them with the YouTube plugin rather than ripping them.

Like I was not wasting enough time as it is doing YouTube surfing on my computer, now I'm also doing it in front of the TV. It has a certain appeal. When there's nothing to watch on TV, instead of flipping the channels endlessly, I now go to YouTube and look for stupid videos.

Well guys....After 3 days of trying to download the update without success, it dawned on me just to log in into my account and try again. And what do you know? It finally worked. Duh..... I don't know if it's a coincidence or not.....Whatever. I'm happy.
