Hey guys,
So I am finally retiring my G5 Tower and simplifying to a MacBook. This presents a few issues:
My G5 has 2x250GB hard drives. I use one as a backup of the main drive. The new MacBook has only a 160GB drive.
My concern of course is that:
a) I want to still be able to have a bootable copy of my MacBook's hard drive AND
b) I need to be able to copy over ALL of my iTunes info. I have about 90GB in music, and much of that has been rated and organized to an almost OCD level; I can't lose that information.
Also in the house, I have 2 other Macs, a MBP I use for work, and my wife's PowerBook. I need to sync files from the work MBP to the MB so that I can access them if need be and as a backup. Also, I would like to be able to wireless backup my wife's PB drive wirelessly.
So what is the best way to do this? My thinking right now is this:
External HD, roughly 500GB in size for backing up my new MB, and the PB. Also, I would like to put my iTunes there if possible, but I still would need to be able to rate my music - so does that mean I would need to keep my music in my User folder? Not sure.
Also, are there wireless HDs out there now, if so, are they good?
Any advice is much appreciated.
