Anyone have any suggestions for a simple but relatively high quality USB dialup modem? I just got my MBP and obviously it doesn't have a built in modem. I really like the Apple USB modem but I haven't read many good reviews on it. Something a little higher quality with a similar design would be ideal.

I have the Apple USB modem and it works fine for me. I use it with AOL dial-up, it did take a few minutes for me to get the settings in AOL right.

I use the Apple modem and it works quite well. I use it mostly to check my e-mail when there is no wi-fi.

I don't know why the apple modem would get poor reviews. I've used it with absolutely no problems for over a year, beginning with a MacBook and then also with a MBP.

Yeah, mine also works perfectly fine. In fact, it works better than the built-in modem in my parents’ G5 iMac (that modem takes several tries to connect, while mine always connects the first time).
