I have an older Griffin iMic and the Griffin guitar cable that plugs into it. Unfortunately, because my bass guitar has passive, high-impedance pickups, it sounds terrible in GarageBand. What should my next purchase be if I want to record voice, guitar, and bass into GB (not necessarily all at once)?
I was looking at the M-Audio FireWire Solo and I like the idea of it because of the speed and lower latency of FireWire. Any opinions?
One problem is that if I get that device, I'm not leveraging my existing iMic at all. Could I maybe just attach a cheap Behringer mixer to the iMic instead?

A Pod Line 6 ?
And seriously: Anything with the name "Behringer" on it causes eczema.

Do you have another suggestion?

I like the fact that it works for guitar, bass, and vocals, and that it works well live, too. This tube pre-amp also looks good to me for this purpose.
I think my basic struggle is over whether I need something just for use with GarageBand or whether I can get something dual purpose because I already own the iMic. See what I mean?
