I have a 1998 Toshiba 36" regular crt/tube TV. Back then it was $1200 because it is a really nice picture with lots of color/quality configurability. It even has 800x600 monitor capability (which is nice when I plug my Powerbook in for photo slideshows and so on).

Aaaanyway, I only use this TV for DVD's, so it still plays like new. I don't want to go out and buy a nice plasma or LCD display.

Anyone have a decent tube TV with Apple TV? Is it blocky and chunky as hell or does it look real purdy?
Do you want forgiveness or respect?

I have a philips hdtv tube that'll do 1080i thru component input. Although this isn't exactly what you have, i'd have to say that the quality is pretty nice. In fact, i still think u get better picture quality from a tubetv than an lcd or plasma. The benefits of lcd and plasma are obvious (size, energy consump, etc) but i think you'll be more than satisfied with the quality. I'd say the most important thing is to make sure your tv is calibrated correctly (easy on the contrast and sat).

I use a 160gb ATV on my Philips 20pt6441/37 4:3 with component ins at 480i and it looks sweet still. Just can't drop the money on an HDTV yet. The picture is a little squashed because it's expecting 16:9 and the small text for the descriptions are hard to read. But the videos play back beautifully
