Need new camcorder - AVCHD?

	OK, my old Canon Optura Pi has finally died. I was about to hit the Buy button on a new Canon HV20, but the new version of iMovie supports AVCHD video. I have never really looked at AVCHD cameras because my understanding was the old version of iMovie didn't support it. Now that it does, I need to figure out what benefits AVCHD offers and if that's the direction I should go. Based on reviews, the HV20 has phenomenal picture quality. Can I expect the same from an AVCHD camera? I'm clueless about AVCHD - any advice is appreciated.
