I'm a film major and I use my external hard drive to save video and audio files for Final Cut projects. I went to use my drive today and it simply won't turn on. The power adapter is working, my only guess is that the adapter port isn't connecting properly. It is very important that I retrieve the information off of the hard drive, as it contains many projects I've been working on for months.

Has anyone had any similar experiences with their external hard drives?
Are their places that repair external hard drives as opposed to recovering data?

If you have any info on this problem I would greatly appreciate it

The model that I use is a d2 hard drive extreme 320GB

We've had several LaCie drives just up and die for no reason. Our Authoring guy said that evidently one of the boards inside gets too hot and basically fries out.

The fact you're using Final Cut might have taxed it out. Don't know for sure...
