I wanna start doing play throughs for more obscure games that don't have a big presence on the web, and I'd rather not just stick a video camera in front of my TV.

Basically, would need something that will be compatible with composite and component. Preferably somethign that will allow me to play both ON my Mac Book as well as out to the TV set, but I can get by with playing just on my Mac Book.

Of course, since this is a Mac Book, the card will have to be either USB or FireWire.

TIA.

You have several options:
* Elgato EyeTV Hybrid
* Elgato EyeTV USB Wonder 2.0
* Miglia TV Express line of products

I've used the Elgato EyeTV products above with gaming consoles, and they work pretty well. There's a tiny, tiny bit of delay that is negligible enough for the games I play. However, they only go as high as S-Video and not component. The video quality even with S-Video appears "fuzzy" on full screen LCD monitors, though.

I suppose there are other ways you can do this:
* Connect gaming console using a stand-alone DVD Recorder (not DVD burner) which then connects to the TV. Import footage onto Mac and edit.
* Connect gaming console to a video splitter -- one that goes to the Mac, another to your TV so you can focus on the TV while the Mac records.
* Play the game on an emulator on the Mac or PC (if possible)

I don't plan on doing anything too intensive, save for maybe a few shmups.

Thanks for the recommendations.
