I have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Mini and will be getting an iMac next year.
I'm worry about theft so am looking into getting one of those security locks. I prefer one that is a combination lock. What is a good brand to look into? I've heard mostly about Kensington but when I went to Apple's online store there were a lot of concerned about these damaging the laptops, not holding well, etc. Is there a specific Kensington lock or another I should look into?

It's recently become known that the Kensington MicroSaver Combination Notebook Lock can be defeated in seconds with a penny. Yep, you read that right, a penny.

Can you post a link to that. If you fit a combination lock to the computer properly, it should be invulnerable to that sort of attack-but if this is a different attack than what I'm aware of, there might be another issue at work. In general, these locks come with a number of shims that you use to ensure that the lock body is securely and firmly against the edge of the computer. If there's any play at all, the lock can be defeated-by breaking the case of the computer in some cases.
