One of my friends MacBook's died a few months ago. The hard-drive on the old MacBook had some pics that she would like to recover. My first thought was to buy an enclosure kit and copy the files back onto her new MacBook. Is there a better option out there that I should be aware of?

Thanks,
Mason

If the drive itself is dead, recovering data may get problematic. If it's just the Mac that died and the HDD still works, then I'd recommend the enclosure option.

Which enclosure kit do think is the best one to use with the MacBook hard-drives? I was checking some of the ones from Other World Computing and saw a few, but they were a tad expensive. I'm looking for one in the 40 and under range.

Thanks,

You can either get an enclosure and put it in that, which you would be best looking at Newegg for that, but you can also go and get a bridge that will connect to the HDD and then plug in through USB. Price on that might vary.

When looking at the enclosure kits, should I look for anything more specific than Mac OS X compatible and 3.5"? How can I be assured that these enclosure kits will fit the MacBook (stock) hard-drive?

Thanks,

macbooks have 2.5" drives, like nearly all portables.
