Well, today it happened again, for the 2nd time... the screen went totally dead and non-responsive. Thank God I had my new 20" right there so I was able to swap out the cables and properly shut down the computer this time, the first time it happened last week, I had to shut down with the off button (something I don't like to do!).
Anyway, the only way I can get the screen to work again is to unplug it (from the 120v outlet) and then re-plug it in. I called Apple Care and they had no idea, and game me a case number to see if I can get a new one under apple care, but now I'm being told that since I bought the screen literally 1 week after the computer, it technically isn't covered under the Applecare I bought for that computer.. Even though I called Apple and added that monitor to my order back in Aug 2006 and it infact shipped before my MacPro.. go figure!
Anyone have a similar issue? or know of any "known issues" with these displays?
thanks

I have the green speckled pixel issue - if my monitor gets too warm (either if the room its in gets warm or if the display has been on for a while with the brightness up to full), it will display shimmering green pixels on a few random areas of the screen. Didn't start until it was to late to exchange, and I never bothered to take it in for repair, mainly because I'm more afraid of getting it back with stuck pixels or something else if they have to replace the panel. Turning the display off then right back on fixes the problem. Occurs maybe once every couple weeks.
The display is long since out of warranty, so I wont be taking it in for anything anyway. I've been eyeing the new Eizo 30" display - it has two DVI inputs; one single-link with HDCP (up to 1920x1200) and one dual-link (for 2560x1600). It can also do a split screen with two independent portrait 1200x1600 displays, one from each DVI port and can handle up to 100% of the NTSC color gamut and 97% of the Adobe RGB gamut. Should be great for medical graphics.

I guess I'm just odd, but I feel like a high grade commercial quality display like this should have a stronger warranty and customer support than just saying "We have to send it in for repair" and then not give you a loaner to use in the interim.
Oh well..
