Been looking into getting a used G4 PowerMac which I'd like to connect to my old but trusty Sony Multiscan 20sfII CRT monitor.

The upgraded PM 7500/100 it's connected to at the moment has two cables running to the monitor, VGA and power. When I look at pics of G4's, I notice that the DA, QS and MDD versions haven't got the plug to supply the monitor with power, just the VGA connector.

How would I hook up the monitor to one of those computers, considering that it doesn't have a direct mains connection? Could I keep the Beige box on just to supply power to the monitor? Would I have to? I feel I'm missing something.

Thanks.

The computer, yes. The monitor, no.

dude, what kind of plug is it? My roommate has an older CRT and it plugs right into the wall. And why are you holding on to this old power-hungry behemoth?

photo of the plug please?

Here's a picture of the monitor plug:

And here's a picture of the computer plug:

Turns out the solution was pretty straightforward:

This CRT's always been plugged into the computer. Judging by the pic in the 7500's user's manual, it must have been the standard procedure at the time, I guess.

The reason I'm hanging on to it is because it's a very good monitor, excellent sharpness and colours. That, and I got it for under a tenner.
