someone donated a 17" studio display CRT to my development (imacs) organisation..is this something thats easy to fix? it wont go away after several degaussings by the onscreen menu

That's not a magnetism problem, it's a deflection coil problem. Fortunately it's minor; you can still use the monitor for many functions. But from the look of it, this one is not easily repairable. It's possible that a good CRT tech could realign the color yokes, but will that be worth your time and money? If you're writing code, you can just think of this as the "party screen".

I'm just gonna go ahead and ask:

You don't happen to have speakers sitting just above that monitor, to the right and left?

They'd probably be right above the left and right corners if they were... I just assumed that had been looked at.
