Hello,

I've bought the ethernet external HD from Lacie: Extreme 1 TB Big Disk, which to my dismay doesn't work properly:
-Plugged to my Airport extreme base station, I can barely send files over for backup...[too slow.]
-Time Machine doesn't work, even if it's a APF, NAS or NAB or something I can't remember of...
-Plugged to my Powermac in USB, it doesn't work either: Lacie claims that it should be 'plug and play' in USB, but following their instructions [go to system pref>network>...] leads me to nowhere but failure [a modem option appears in place of the acknowledgment of an external disk].

What to do? If only I could make it work in USB, I wouldn't have totally waste this purchase. Can I do something valuable?

If you plug it in through USB on your Mac, you treat it as a disk, not as a network device. The network pane of System Preferences has nothing to do with USB.

If you plugged it into you Mac's usb port, it should show up in the finder, not network.
