I could really use help with this - I have some voice mails I would like to archive as sound files on my computer, and have purchased a 2.5 mm -> 3.5 mm adapter and then a male to male 3.5 mm adapter to go from the phone to my USB iMic. I'm doing this with Mac OS X 10.5.1, which has QuickTime 7.3 installed.
I tried recording it directly with Sound Studio, and the audio turned out really strange, as you can hear here:

The audio should be familiar to Verizon users: that is the fairly normal female voice prompting me to "Please enter your password." The sound is way too high-frequency, though, and it's only coming through the right channel... which maybe is to be expected, I imagine most cell phones output mono from the headphone plug. I am using a Motorola E815 here.
What could be wrong? I have tried playing it through directly in System Preferences's audio Input panel. I have also used the same wire to connect my iPod to the iMic, and that played music through that sounded normal.
Is it a sample thing? Is my cell phone not outputting the proper signal? I have never tried using the 2.5 mm jack before.
Any ideas or solutions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
