Hi there
I recently purchased my Z5500 logitech 5.1 speakers and have bought the optical cable.
the 5.1 seems to work on my PS3 however not in the Mac Pro.
Just to confirm i plug it in using the optical cable which enters the red optical area
anyone know how i can set this up to work with 5.1???
Thanks

Make sure you have select "Digital Audio" as your output in the Sound Preferences.
However, the Mac will only output 5.1 if it has a 5.1 source, like playing a movie in DVD player. It won't expand stereo to a fake 5.1 output.

I have the same speaker set, but an earlier model of PowerMac G5. Have you also played with the 'Audio MIDI Setup' tools?
