I have a new Imac with OS X 10.4.11 and a hard disc drive Sony handycam. The camcorder software is not Mac compatible. On the Sony help site I was able to find info on uploading video to a Mac. I got all of my video uploaded only to find that I movie and Final cut do not recognize the file type. I can upload the video and watch it on the web so I know the files are there. I either need some Mac compatible software that will recognize the file type or a way to convert the files to something usable on a Mac. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks so much!

I have the Sony SR100(hhd) camcorder. Here's what you have to do:
1. Go to Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows and download mpeg streamclip (free).
2. Go to apple's web site and download quicktime mpeg2 playback component (unless you have final cut pro which then you already have it).
3. Hookup your cam and drag and drop your movie files to the desktop.
4. Convert to DV.
5. Import and start choppin up the video.

Been doing this for a year and works good. I notice very little loss of quality unless you compress to fit on DVD, then it stinks. A little different way to get it in but it works. Also suggest you visit Camcorders - Independent Camcorder Reviews, Ratings & Comparisons for alot of information on camcorders. If your still having problems, let me know.

Randy- thank you so much! I'll try that, that's exactly the info I needed.
