I recently got a sp2008wfp for my mac mini G4, however, after only a few minutes of use, there starts to be blinking in and out and then with that it has flickering lines and then just fails. Any reason to why that is?

1. How is it blinking in and out? Is it the entire picture on the screen?

2. How is the monitor connected? Directly using DVI or are you using the DVI-to-VGA adapter?

Some monitors have an auto-scanning feature where it searches for a video signal if it can't detect one immediately. That is, it goes from one source to another (DVI, VGA, component, etc) until it finds a suitable one. You could override this by manually choosing the input source. Also make sure the connections are secure (both on the Mac Mini side and the monitor side).

1. The entire display blanks in and out, with TV like fizzling then blanks in and out until it completely goes out.

2. It is connected via DVI.

3. I tried that and got the same problem already to where it is not even connecting to the mac mini after about 5 start up attempts

Broken. Replace.

See if you can test it on another machine just to make sure its not the computer itself for some reason.

It works with my dell but the 1680 x 1050 resolution does not cooperate on DVI, I am going to try VGA and see if that will do the trick since I have heard that it will work on VGA. However, I already ordered for an exchange which will arrive in 3-5 days. Well the 1680x1050 resolution works just fine with VGA.

Well I got the new one but its color is off completely to where I am seeing more yellow on white. Can I correct this or is it another bad one showing the entire series is a LEMON

The Dell displays have white balance controls, which will let you tweak it to where you think it looks good. A colorimeter or spectrophotometer will take the guesswork (and your bias) out of the equation.

The G4 mini had DVI issues. A few days ago someone posted a similar thread.
