Logitech last week (still not resolved), Epson this week. My problems just don't stop.
I have an Epson Photo Stylus R340 printer. I was having problems with it, so I removed it from the Print & Fax settings in Leopard (10.5.1). Big mistake. Now, whenever I try to add the printer back in, I get an error: successful-ok-conflicting-attributes. Not helpful at all.
Epson has two drivers on their web site, but it's not clear what you need, especially if you are using an Intel machine with Leopard, as I am. They have "EasyPrint" which seems to be the right one for Intel Macs with Leopard. I think they assume you use the driver from the Leopard install disk along with Easyprint. In any case, every mix of drivers I've tried, multiple permissions repairs, and even trying to add the printer in guest and test user accounts fails with the same error when I try to use the R340 driver. If I try a similar one, say R360, I can add the printer. Weird.
Epson support has, of course, been no help whatsoever, sending email after email of standard troubleshooting steps with no acknowledgement of the successful-ok-conflicting-attributes message at all. I really think at this point that both Logitech and Epson don't read their email at all and that they have bots looking for key words and replying with a list of steps and a friendly customer support person's name. Thanks for the help, "Brad." Not.
If anybody has any idea what to do (until they update Printer Setup Repair; when is that happening?), I'd be most appreciative.
Thanks,
Steve
