I'm looking for a good quality HD to put in the second slot of my Power Mac G5. It's got to be at least 500 GB, 1 TB preferable. Have no idea how the various brands are rated and am having trouble finding relevant posts here. Looks like everyone is using externals. I already have an external for backup but would like to keep my photos on the Mac and the first drive fairly empty.

An external drive is nothing more than an internal in a case. Any of the name brands are fine, really. There were some early issues with some Seagate SATA drives in G5s but I haven't heard of any problem with them in quite awhile. I happen to like Western Digital, specifically the Caviar model. So far I have purchased two for my own G5 and have been very happy.

Sorry for the duplicate post. I realized after I posted in one place the other would probably be more appropriate. I'm still learning to navigate this forum.

In the future you can just ask a mod to move your thread.

I've been here a while and I'm not even sure which forum your post is most appropriate for.
