It all started in 1999 I was 18, unemployed and completely in love with the NEW clamshell Mac's but, I couldn't afford it and i just drooled. When I finally did buy a mac I got the powerbook G4 which I still lovingly use today.

Anyhow, I'm looking to upgrade from my G4 and just going out and buying a new one is too easy so I been thinking of starting an epic Mod.

Now still use and love my G4 powerbook but the aluminum body has taken a real beating over the years.
I was wondering how difficult it would be to completely custom mod the Clamshell. ??? Could I replace my powerbook parts? Swap? throw in non-apple parts? What can I do to make the Clamshell "modern"?

I'm really not interested in keeping all of the guts of the clamshell I basically just want the clamshell case with modern guts. If I could swap out all the cool stuff from my powerbook and mod it into a clamshell case, cool. If I can find parts that would work from a PC that would be cool too. Basically I want a modern machine, something nice, but fit into the Clamshell... umm... shell.

As I have never taken apart a clamshell ( or powerbook ) I don't really know how possible it is to swap, I am willing to drop the $$$ to buy new parts, dremel, superglue to custom mod it...

Is this possible? Insane? Maybe, but I think it would be a really cool project if it can be done.
