LaCiE DVD±RW d2 will record to a DVD+RW disk but then the recorder will not recognize the disk, whereas my desktop computer will recognize it!


I have just recorded to 3 different Memorex DVD+RW disks from my LaCiE DVD±RW d2. The recording process is through Toast 7, with the Data option selected to record computer data (alphabetized information directories, summaries of bookmarked websites, etc).


As soon as the burn is complete and the disk is ejected from the drive, my DVD±RW d2 drive (and my computer) will not recognize the disk if the disk is inserted into the DVD±RW d2 drive, but the disk is recognized if it is inserted into the optical drive of my iMac.

As well, all other media works with the LaCiE DVD±RW d2 drive, including DVD-ROM disks of movies.


I did not see a support forum on the LaCiE website, and I did not see a forum on the internet that was relevant to specifically LaCiE hardware.

Searching these forums turned up a somewhat relevant article regarding a DVD±R drive and the need to install NEC drivers, but this information does not address my situation closely enough.

Alright, folks, well now apparently when I insert the said DVD+RW disk, blank or burned, the disk fails to read altogether.

LaCie says that my firmware is already up to date.

Toast 7.0.2 straight from the installation disk

EDIT 1: Wait until 8:30pm edt for update.

EDIT 2: Updating to 7.1.3, the latest LaCie firmware, and installing the on-disk Toast-Lacie drivers allows me to burn blank disks again, but already-burned disks are still not recognized.
