I just got my coupon from the government, and I want to move on this before everyone else suddenly realizes that they have to get it done. There are a lot of options; what brand and model do you suggest? What sort of antenna should I get? This is pretty important because my roof decking is backed with aluminum foil (It's called Tech Shield and it blocks heat transfer quite well-along with radio waves).

I've found Amazon's customer antenna reviews to be rather helpful, it seems there's a few standout antenna's that the majority seem to agree on. An amplified Philip's indoor/TV set top unit in particular, and some of the grid/bowtie units, (see THE FAQ PAGE at: Watch Edit Share : Apple Mac TV Tuner Options From ElGato EyeTV Miglia Pinnacle Hauppague -- some of which are small enough for indoor use. It seems, especially with the FCC's auction frequency spectrum - that the OTA - Over The Air digital broadcasts are mostly in the UHF rather than VHF range. So it's the loop/bowtie - and NOT the 'rabbit ear' pull out rods that matter most for most digital stations. Sadly it seems alot of people including me have to TRY SEVERAL antennas, return one or two, to find the one that works best _in their particular home or attic environment and distance from the transmission towers.

It's like the dam broke and SUDDENLY the long-awaited converter boxes hit the market: Like all the companies were waiting for the first out of the gate to stick it's neck out so they could UNDERCUT PRICING before shipping theirs. Amazon only started listing a broad range of them Mid-March - so it's almost too soon to get a good sense of customer feedback and experience there on any of these DTA converter boxes from AccessHD, Philco, Magnavox, DigitalStream etc.
